Performance
Rooted in her work as a vocalist and creative director of Afro-Andean Funk, Araceli has expanded her artistic practice into interdisciplinary performance and live installation. Drawing from her grandmother’s lineage as a curandera in the Andes of Peru, these solo works explore ancestral healing, Indigenous ecological knowledge, and ceremony in diaspora—integrating live music, traditional Andean instruments, recorded soundscapes, medicinal plants, and participatory elements.
Nocon Shawan
Created during a 2024 residency with Remix Culture at The Hurley House, Nocon Shawan is a video performance piece that weaves Andean musical traditions with contemporary ritual. The work was presented at Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center and later at Roulette in Brooklyn.
